This kinda follows the same idea as mine for my channel ident. Something building up to form its final state. Although this is just a basic stop frame animation mine will hopefully have something new to it by including the techniques Ive picked up from my previous blog entry's.

Quay Brothers Animation
Possibly a major influence to the last post I put up. This piece is incredibly scary just from the stop frame movement and the black and white film. Quite frankly the Quay brothers animations freak me out but I love their technique.

Mechanical stop motion
I came across this animation made by a student. He had just got a brand new SLR camera and decided to create an animation. The movement itself of the objects in shot is ok. but it's the lighting and focus that excites me.
Lighting shots are made to look almost like car headlights driving past a window this is something id like to replicate in my ident.
Science Channel
My new project requires me to create a 10 second Channel ident of my choice. After thinking about doing a sports channel from personal interest i have decided on something that interests me but I dont usually watch.
The science channel's current idents use close ups of different subjects such as blood, virus's engineering.

American Beauty - Composition/Lighting Translation
Filming tests
These are some tests I did with just the main subject. I was trying to get the set aswell as the lighting correct. Sadly the room lights main the hole shot look slightly orange....I will be taking a Light home from uni so I can get a more evenly less orange shot.

Lars and the Real Girl
When coming up with my ideas this film was mention to me so i immediately rented it out. It's about a guy who is totally anti social and decides to get a female doll. He suffers the delusion of thinking it is a real woman and introduces her to his friends and family creating some totally awkward moments in the film.
After watching this film it has really helped me identify which areas I need to hit to make my Viral humorous to capture the target audience.

JOHN SMITHS ADVERT - Awkward humor
I want my Viral to take on the humor of a John Smiths advert. The way this advert uses nearly no speech but relies solely on the awkwardness of the situation is pleasantly amusing making this ad a big hit.

De Facto Swedish ad
This is another example of De-Facto's work. This time it is actually for the subculture website promoting it on MTV is sweden. The graphics and music sync and are visually interesting. Again De-Facto's clean style shines through.
De-Facto ad
This is an ad De-Facto has already created for Fred Perry clothing. Although I find it quite boring. It is obvious De-Facto dont mess about. They answer the brief with a clean looking outcome.

VIRAL?
The main objective of the competition is to produce an Underground Viral to drive a creative audience to the fred perry subculture website. An underground viral to me is a well thought out advert but made to look like ordinary home footage so it looks real!
This advert for heineken shows a group of lads with a handy cam. They then decide on the wacky idea of knocking their wall through and building a room size fridge for their Heineken.
People watching this ad would find it funny but also quite amazing believing it is real.

D&AD Competition: Fred Perry Viral

My next project will be entering a competition to create a Viral advertisement for Fred Perry Subculture. Fred Perry is a clothing brand which have now launched a website promoting bands, gigs and merchandise.
I chose this competition because it gives me a chance to show off my design skills for a contempory purpose. I am also within the target Audience so this will give me a better understanding of the brief.
